Fixing new email not showing in outlook in cached exchange mode

1.       1st, backup your existing data to a pst

a.       Select your exchange account in outlook

b.      From the menu, select  file>import and export

c.       Export your entire account to a pst  (include sub folders)

d.      Click next and save in your “my documents” folder as outlook_backup.pst

e.      This creates a back-up as a precautionary measure, in case the resynchronization of exchange and your offline data causes some data loss

2.       In outlook, go to tools >accounts

a.       De-select “cached exchange “ mode

b.      Select “Microsoft exch….” Click “Change”

c.       De-select “Use Cached…”

3.       Your new email will start to appear. After some time , depending on the size of your inbox (this could take several hours), your  offline data will synch with the server as well.

4.       Restore any  missing items (if necessary)  from the back up .PST file created in step 1

When restoring emails, it is best to attach the back-up pst you created, instead of importing it. (steps are)

  1. In the outlook menu, go to " file>open>outllook datafile " and browse to your back-up pst
  2. You can now expand the folder in your folder list and view your emails
  3. You may also drag them into your inbox
