IBM has changed driver download matrix. the new link is Here  and cotains all 8677 downloads, including blades.

It should be noted that linux disaplay issues during install need to be resolved by passing vga parameters ( ex. vga=788) at run time. see article

updating bios on blades;

IBM changed the bios update, is now only offering it thru cd/floppy based packages vice uploading it thru the mamgt module. I cannot imagine why, but there may be a better way thru director... we will need to research this.

Basic process;

1. download fireware from site in .img format.
2. login to blade mgmt module and check firmware level for blade
1. in blade sect., view "firmeware VPD" link
2. view the firmware revision for the target blade
3. Upload firmare by;
1. connect to blade "remote control" console.
2. ensure "remote disk" is aligned to target blade
3. select file in "remote disk" , browse to and mount the "...img" file that was downloaded
4. Load the image following the DOS instructions. (you must have space on a drive of folder monunted to back up the orginal bios). make sure "write protected" is not checked in this case. You may have to flash without backing up the original (Note: the iso version of the flash update is a little more user friendly but not as reliable, because the image is not loaded to the chassis flash memory) 
4. Refresh blade firmware vpd using the "reload VPD" button or equivilant

the LS20 firmware fixed the remote console issues, that often made it impossible to manage the LS20 ( 8850 ) blade remotely
